01Can Potrace trace a colour image?+
Not as colour. Potrace is a black-and-white tracer — it thresholds the bitmap and follows the boundary, so a multi-colour logo comes back as a single-colour silhouette. Tools that appear to give you colour Potrace output are usually running it once per colour layer and stacking the results, which is where mismatched edges between layers come from.
02Is an AI vectorizer actually better, or just newer?+

03Why does my Potrace output look like a polygon?+
That is its documented behaviour when too many corners are detected — the curve fitting gives up and you get straight segments. It is tunable with the corner threshold, which is exactly the per-image fiddling a learned tracer removes.
